The order in which apps are listed below is not significant. It is only meant to support easy reference.

The related requirements document can be found at https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/data-foundation-and-terminology-wg/wi

    1. Drupal wiki on RDA site

(this is what hosts this document)

+ authentication against RDA user base

+ collaborative editing (all can add and edit everything)

       +/- unstructured content

       – only in-text commenting

       – no revision log/no diff view/email notifications considered troublesome

       + categorization via tags possible

       no relations

       content export(?)

       + open source

+ already in place and maintained

    2. Trac wiki on RDA site

       (assuming this becomes available)

+ authentication against RDA user base

+ collaborative editing (all can add and edit everything)

       +/- unstructured content

       – only in-text commenting (unless enabled via add-on module)

       + revision log

       + diff views

+ change sets available from Trac’s timeline

       (email notifications?)

       categorization (via add-on?)

       no relations

       content export(?)

       + open source

+ already in place and maintained (?)

    3. SeaIce

       – no authentication against RDA user base (without writing code for it)

       – all can add but no collaborative editing (only author/owner can change things)

+/- structured content (may need customization)

       + dedicated commenting

+/- no email notification but stared terms/pages are tracked on home page (diff views?)

       + voting/staring

       no categorization

       no relations

       content export(?)

       – needs to be set-up and maintained for us (by whom?)

       + open source: https://github.com/cjpatton/seaice

       + easily deployed on Heroku

       Example site: http://seaice.herokuapp.com/

    4. Semantic mediawiki

+ authentication against RDA user base (assuming this is held in LDAP or similar)

+ collaborative editing (all can add and edit everything)

       + revision log

       (diff views?)

+/- structured content (with appropriately configured forms add-on)

       + dedicated commenting

+/- no email notifications(?) but watching/tracking feature

       – no voting

       categorization

       relations

+ content export(?) (RR: I know MW supports some form of export – however useful – and SMW also supports RDF export)

       – needs to be set-up and maintained (by whom?)

       + open source: http://semantic-mediawiki.org/

+ mainstream app; easily deployed from any Linux/UNIX environment

       Example sites: http://neurolex.org (with form add-on); http://terms.gbif.org/

    5. ISOCat

(not yet considered in detail as this is currently considered too heavy weight)

       – needs to be set-up and maintained (by whom?)

       + open source: http://sourceforge.net/projects/isocat/

       Example site: http://www.isocat.org/
