Reminder that our first meeting is next week, Wednesday February 8th at 5:30AM UTC-5, 10:30AM UTC; and 9:30PM UTC+11 (with many apologies to Eastern US folks for the early wakeup call – slippers and coffee encouraged!). Many Thanks to those who visited and completed the poll. The winner for a best time to gather for the first meeting of the Repo2Pub Working Group was Wednesday, 8 February at 5:30AM EST in the US; 10:30AM GMT in the UK (11:30AM CET, Germany); and 9:30PM AEDT Canberra AU. (with many apologies to Eastern US folks on the early wakeup call)
I will send a zoom invite and agenda shortly. During this first call, we’ll aim to introduce ourselves, discuss the group’s overall goals, objectives, and make up along with any edits to refine the case statement for submission. I will be learning about RDA process as this group evolves and welcome any experienced guidance!

    Happy New Year, All-
Unfortunately, we could not find a good time for a first meeting of the RDA Repo2Pub Working Group, but many thanks to those who did review and comment on the draft case statement! On the plus side, additional RDA and data publication community members have expressed interest, and I am including them on this thread. If this email is your first contact with this group, please see our draft case statement or scroll down for additional information.
I would like to follow through to get this group on a first call and have drafted a new scheduling poll. Sadly, given our global distribution with so many time zones, it’s not possible to get everyone on the same call during normal business hours. I hope you can find one date that fits your schedule without too much compromise (proposed times are attempting to pull in US through AU time zones). I am also happy to meet in smaller groups on staggered times to keep everyone apprised of activities and the group making progress. But will try for a full group first. Please complete the poll by 20 January 2023 and with any luck we can get this group rolling!

I’m relatively new to how RDA groups operate, so I ask for your patience as I come up to speed. I notice on the RDA site, working groups have the capability to create posts for in-group communications, so I will also post this email there (more of a test for me). Please feel free to share this Working Group invitation with colleagues who may have interest.

    Dear RDA colleagues,
You are receiving this email because you have expressed interest in joining the (previously presented) ESIP/RDA Earth, Space, and Environmental Science Interest Group’s (ESES IG) proposed working group on: Coordinating Earth, Space, and Environmental Science Data Preservation and Scholarly Publication Processes; or the Repo2Pub group. This group is concerned with improving the flow of data publication activities by addressing challenges associated with the touch points between key process stakeholders (researcher, publisher, and repository).
As the lead champion for this effort, it’s taken me a little time to clear enough space to get the working group off the ground, but that time has come and I am hoping you are still interested! If you are, please read on before replying, and if not, please feel free to reply back to me now and I will remove you from this list. If you know of individuals who would be interested, or who would be a critical member to the working group’s goals and objectives, please do pass this email along.
I have started a draft case statement that I would like to hone it as a group in preparation for submitting to the Secretariat for subsequent TAB and RDA community review. I propose to get this initial group together for a kickoff meeting once we determine the group members and will plan to send out a doodle poll by early next week. To that end, I would appreciate if you could reply with your confirmed interest in joining this group by the end of this week (Friday, Oct 28).
Many thanks again for your interest in this group and please stand by for proposed dates on a first meeting.
    Best,
