The Complex Citations WG submitted recommendations are currently under RDA Council review as of 3 March 2025.  We have addressed comments as they have been received and updated the recommendations. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to review this work.

Our next steps will be to address any addition comments from the Council and turn the attention of the working group (in maintenance mode) to implementation. The primary outcome from this session is a determination of the scope and approach for practical implementation. The large number of workflow actors, infrastructure platforms, and technical requirements makes these next steps potentially significant both in scope and impact.  This will help us discern how best to organize the effort within RDA’s structure. 

To help inform the session participants, we invite 3 of the 18 use case owners to share their use case identified in the Complex Citation Recommendation document and how well the submitted recommendations meet their needs.

1. Welcome and Introduction of the Complex Citations WG (5 min)
2. What is a “Complex Citation”? and including a brief overview of the submitted recommendations (R1-R10). (15 min)
3. Use Case Overview and Alignment to the submitted recommendations (30 min) 3 speakers, 10 min each. 
   1. DataCite and the DOI perspective (James Ayliffe, National Oceanography Centre, via Matt Buys provided slides)
   2. Physical Samples (Joan Damerow, Lawrence Berkeley Labs)
   3. IPCC (Martina Stockhause, DKRZ/IPCC DDC)
