WG Process Kick-off

31 Jan 2014

Dear Task Force,

Stefanie and I have been talking and we think we have a plan that we'd like to run by you.

We have defined the first, very high-level process that outlines the overall picture. See figures from Stefanie at https://rd-alliance.org/groups/working-group-process-task-force/wiki/overall-wg-process.html

If y’all agree with this overall process, we will then proceed to describe each of the seven subprocesses. We are thinking we will make swimlane diagrams for each (example swimlane diagram).

So, some questions:

  1. Do you agree with our approach?
  2. Does the group have the right membership? We thought we should invite a WG chair or two. Suggestions? Perhaps it is sufficient if we ask the WG chairs occasionally for review.
  3. Did we capture the basic high-level process? If not, what is wrong or missing?
  4. Do we need a telecom yet? It may be difficult to set up. We are all broadly distributed around the globe. About the only time that works is 20:00 UTC (15:00 in New York, 21:00 in France and 7:00 in Melbourne)

Kindly reply to the questions above. If we are all together, Stefanie and I will work on next steps.

    So, some questions:
    1. Do you agree with our approach?
    FB: Yes, much appreciated.
    1. Does the group have the right membership? We thought we should invite a WG chair or two. Suggestions? Perhaps it is sufficient if we ask the WG chairs occasionally for review.
FB: During Council, we were trying to get representation from the major RDA component groups with this membership. In some sense, the TAB co-chairs represent the WGs but it would be very useful to have the WG Chairs review things from this TF as they start to gel.
    1. Did we capture the basic high-level process? If not, what is wrong or missing?
    2. Do we need a telecom yet? It may be difficult to set up. We are all broadly distributed around the globe. About the only time that works is 20:00 UTC (15:00 in New York, 21:00 in France and 7:00 in Melbourne)
FB: This month is crazy for me date-wise but the time above works …
Kindly reply to the questions above. If we are all together, Stefanie and I will work on next steps.
