Groups audience:

Dear RDA UK members,
Welcome to the first newsletter from the RDA UK node. We plan to communicate work and activities that are relevant to UK members via a regular newsletter. Although you might have already seen this information from other RDA channels, we hope that you find this summary useful. If you have any comments or ideas for future newsletters please let us know (contact details are at the end).
RDA UK Node Newsletter – March 2019
First RDA UK node Workshop
On 18 January nearly 60 people gathered at the Jisc offices in London for the node’s first workshop – an introduction to the RDA UK national node. You can read a summary of the workshop on the RDA blog and download slides from the event page.
Second RDA UK Workshop
The next workshop is being planned, probably for June. This will be a whole day workshop focussed on Persistent Identifiers and relevant RDA interest and working groups. We would welcome input from members so please get in touch if you would like to get involved.
We would also be interested in hearing from anyone working on other initiatives that are relevant to the RDA for future workshops.
RDA Europe Ambassadors
There are a number of RDA Europe Ambassadors across a range of domains. They facilitate an open dialogue with data practitioners and organisations working in their domain specific areas. Details of their role and how the help and support they can provide is on the RDA Europe Ambassadors page. If you contact them please use the online contact form and let us know.
The 2nd RDA Europe Ambassadors Open Call launched on 19 February 2019. The deadline for applications is 20 May 2019 at 17:00 CEST.
Upcoming plenaries
The 13th RDA Plenary in Philadelphia will run from 2-4 April with a number of co-located events. Details, including links to the registration page and the programme, are available on the plenary page. If you write any blog post about your experience of the plenary please do share with other UK members via the UK node mailing list.
If you can’t make the 13th Plenary there’s always the 14th Plenary in Helsinki in October.
Other events
EOSC-hub week 10-12 April 2019, Prague
Linking Open Science in Austria 24-25 April, Vienna
If there are any events you think other UK members should know about please share using the UK node mailing list.
Adoption stories
Please let us know if you have any adoption stories or use cases for recommendations and outputs from RDA groups. The RDA Europe 4 project is tracking adoption stories so we need examples from the UK. We will put these together into a summary of UK examples to share with members. You can now submit your own adoption story using the RDA website’s adoption story submission form.
There will be a webinar, organised by RDA Global, this Friday 22 March at 3pm GMT on RDA Outputs to Support Reproducible Health Research. This will be the first in a series of webinars intended to highlight RDA outputs and their adoption.
RDA Europe Grants
Details of all RDA Europe project grants are available at https://grants.rd-alliance.org/
These include:
Call for Ambassadors - II wave Close date: 20 May 2019 - 17:00 CEST

The RDA Europe 4.0 project is seeking applications to become an external evaluator for proposals to be funded by the project. Evaluators will be responsible for evaluating applications in response to RDA Europe’s open calls.
