uncertainty handling on public data

Hej,
I am looking for guidance on standards to use to qualify the uncertainty on published maps that does not have any uncertainty associated. I am particularly interested on species distribution maps published by national agencies. Is there any working group or recommendations from the RDA in Sweden?
