GORC-WG Meeting Action Items and summary - September 2022

23 Sep 2022
Groups audience:

Hi everyone,

Thank you to those who attended the meeting yesterday for your feedback and excellent questions, suggestions, and insights.

We would like to reiterate that in the meeting, we showcased some preliminary results, and also gave several key updates. A key update from our meeting is that the GORC-WG has been extended until November 2023, and so we have about 1 year to create our final outputs and recommendations.

To this end, we discussed our planned timeline and writing mechanism between now and RDA20, Gothenburg, in March 2023. We believe the best way to do this is to break up into task groups (TG), and we are requesting that all GORC-WG members sign up for 1 task group by October 27, 2022 (sign up here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Sav1mYOGGSA3pxi1pvkLXVdkH0vR9Pf7Rfv3tRh8U8E/edit?usp=sharing).

Note that significant work has been done on preliminary results, and in particular the running list of attributes will be the starting point for task groups to evaluate and refine attributes of global research commons within specific essential elements defined by the GORC-IG typology (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SiWnZRwkmbGuAX1sS33EWLqyRJDQWgkXj8l1EwdQsi0/edit).

We understand that this is a lot of information to be presented in one meeting, and that most of the working group was not in attendance. Please review the meeting slides (https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1IxN-6PWqaQKq_NQbIk0i8vRuN2r4_BlXNe-xeBGLuyg/edit?usp=sharing), rolling notes (https://docs.google.com/document/d/157x8nB0LKODUE1CviWqpVx07s29lEZUovI7bPXmY3wE/edit#heading=h.orl9f8nthfux), and recording (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qz7T2CVpVjrAZm7TOxPipZ8tUt7qgBCA/view?usp=sharing), and contact me at ito-ra1@oceannetworks.ca with any questions or concerns. We are looking for feedback and suggestions from you before our next meeting in October, and the earlier the better! We will also be holding space in our October meeting to discuss the preliminary results, proposed timeline, and writing scheme.

Sincerely,

CJ
