[hrpo-fair] Invitation to join us at the next HRPO-FAIR working group meeting at RDA VP17

07 Apr 2021
Groups audience:

Dear All,
We are writing to you due to your past interest in this WG through
attendance at one of the previous three birds-of-a-feather (BoF)
sessions that were held in RDA P13, P14 and VP15 and its official launch
as a WG at VP16, or if you have corresponded with us through other channels.
We have organised a session at the upcoming RDA VP17 and which we
cordially invite you to attend: our session "WG on Raising FAIRness in
health data and health research performing organisations" has been
scheduled for *Breakout 1 on Tuesday 20th April 2021, 10:15 - 11:45 UTC
*and also *Breakout 9 on Thursday 22nd April 2021, 23:00 - 00:30 UTC.
*Full programme available here

*
*
*********Note that there are two sessions, both the same, aiming to make
it easier for more people to join us!***** Please join us at one
session.***
*
We also invite you to take a look at our RDA pages

to refresh your memory and to familiarise yourself with what we aim to
achieve (and also join our WG if you haven't already done so!). If our
aims are still in line with what you would like to see being
accomplished, then your help would be gratefully received. We have four
co-chairs, representing Europe, N America and Australasia, and would
ideally also like to invite another from Africa, Asia or S America. The
objectives of this WG should not just be focussed on high income
countries and so we see this as a valuable route to consider.

*_Meeting objectives:_*
This meeting will primarily demonstrate the ongoing tasks that were
outlined in the case statement. Specifically, we will discuss the global
landscape analysis of FAIR adoption which was initiated by the co-chairs
and which requires input and review from the WG and the community. After
officially kicking off the WG at VP16, we anticipate nearing completion
of this landscape analysis. Based on the initial findings from this
report, we will use the meeting to also discuss the other concurrent
tasks of *(1)* impact assessment of any identified barriers, and *(2)*
analysis of national and international level policies and guidelines.
These tasks are projected to run further on compared to the landscape
analysis and this meeting will be used to discuss how this time should
be managed and to invite participation from WG members.
As part of the session, we are very pleased to announce that we will
also have Alicia Martínez García from the FAIRness for FHIR

(FAIR4FHIR) project to introduce and discuss their work and how this
relates to work in this WG.

Please note that Alicia will only be able to join us in person in
*Breakout Session 1* and will present a recorded version of her talk in
Session 9.
If you have any queries regarding our WG, especially if the answer can't
be found on the RDA pages, then please don't hesitate to get in touch.
We kindly ask that you circulate this to any other interested parties
that you may know.
We are really excited to share our work so far and your contributions
would be very welcome!
Many thanks and best wishes,
S. Venkataraman, Celia Alvarez-Romero, Kristan Kang and Anupama Gururaj
