A reminder that our telecon next week will include an overview of the Nunaliit Atlas Framework. Nunaliit was designed to use a map interface as the context for displaying data objects and the relationships between them. Because it uses CouchDB (a noSQL database) as its storage mechanism, atlas creators have a great deal of flexibility in describing the data imported into the framework. We will present some example use cases as well as some technical information pertaining to the Nunaliit framework’s inner workings and installation requirements. If time permits, I’ll also briefly present the SIZONet interface developed for another set of ELOKA (Exchange for Local Observations and Knowledge of the Arctic) stakeholders. This interface was not designed as a generic framework to be easily reused by other projects, but we’re interested in pursuing that option in the future.
See you all (virtually) next week –
Julia
