[DDPIG] RDA Data Granularity Task Force monthly call

04 May 2020
Groups audience:

Dear all,
I hope this email finds you well, both physically and mentally, given these
stressful times.
This is just a gentle reminder of our planned monthly call for the
data/metadata granularity Task Force this Thursday May 7th at 21:00 UTC - local
time here

.
Last month, the DDPIG Data Granularity Task Force has a dedicated RDA P15
virtual session (here are the notes

and the slides

used).
Main points in the agenda for this call will be:
1. to discuss the *outcomes *of the RDA vP15 session,
2. outline the *next actions,* and
3. given the number of people that expressed interest in this work,
discuss the *interest in leading this effort* - either in it's existing
form (i.e. a Task Force under the Data Discovery Paradigms Interest Group),
or as a dedicated Working Group within RDA
The following are the three documents that we've been using for capturing
the information on the TF and our calls so far:
- *Data/Metadata Granularity Task Force Minutes* (

)
- *Data Granularity Guidance* draft document (

)
- *Dimension of data/metadata granularity* (

    Dear all,
following up on the very interesting discussion during our monthly Task
Force call last week, I'd like to share a few updates:
    - given the overall interest on the subject of Data Granularity, the
decision was to consider moving towards *establishing a Working Group*
    - Reyna Jenkyns (Ocean Networks Canada) kindly offered to take the lead on
this. For the time being the effort will continue under the DDPIG Task
Force, but the goal is not towards a new WG.
    - A clear outcome of this effort was identified as a Data Granularity
Guidance document - following on the draft that is being drafted so far
    under this TF.
You can find the notes of the call here
    >.
This is also an open *invite for anyone interested to co-lead this WG with
Reyna* - please, feel free to reach out directly.
Finally, please take note that the *time of our monthly call has now
changed* - our next call will take place on *Thursday, June 4th 2020* at *19:00
UTC* (check your local time here
    ).
