    Dear Colleagues,
    I kindly invite you to consider the upcoming Open Agricultural Technology
    Hackathon that will be taking place at the USDA-ARS Agricultural Research
    Center in Beltsville, Maryland — conveniently right after RDA P13 (April
    4-5) and relatively close in location (2.5 hours away, accessible by
    train). There has been a lot of specific discussion around the use of
    geospatial data and geospatial technologies during the Hackathon that may
    be particularly of interest to this group.
    *Gathering for Open Agricultural Technology Hackathon (GOAT:HACK
    )*
    GOAT:HACK will be hosted on April 4th and 5th at the USDA-ARS Beltsville
    Agricultural Research Center in Beltsville, MD. Registration is free — and
    the goals of the event are to:
    – bring together a multidisciplinary cohort of researchers, designers,
    developers, and agricultural practitioners working on agricultural
    technologies;
    – enable open access to data and tools resulting from agricultural
    research;
    – develop open source technical infrastructure that enables research,
    adoption, and evaluation of sustainable agricultural practices.
    GOAT:HACK is free to participate, registration is requested by March 22 –
    and you can learn more about it here: http://goatech.org/goathack-usda-ars/.
    I’d be happy to discuss the opportunity with anyone who is interested in
    GOAT:HACK or future GOAT events.
    sincerely and best wishes,
    Lindsay Barbieri
