Important Updates for the RDA Interest Group on Agricultural Data (IGAD)
Online Meeting Dates are now set - The online meeting will be May 25-29, 2020. The Research Data Alliance (RDA) Interest Group on Agricultural Data (IGAD) meeting "Sharing Experiences and Creating Digital Dialogues," which was set to be held in Rome (Italy) in April 2020 will now take place as a virtual meeting. Sessions will be scheduled throughout the week, for a few hours each day.
 
The virtual meeting will provide an online platform to continue to build upon collaborations, knowledge sharing, and developing innovations with activities including panel sessions, group discussions and presentations. Dr. Andrew Jarvis will be a keynote presenter.  Dr. Andy Jarvis is the Director of the Decision and Policy Analysis Area in the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), and is a Flagship Leader on the CGIAR Research Program for Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), based in Cali, Colombia.
 
Call for proposed presentations and sessions will be extended through May 1, 2020. We welcome contributions related to: * Adoption of RDA outputs by the agricultural community * Data Collection: State of the Art, Challenges and Solutions * Data Interoperability * FAIR principles to all elements of the research process * Implementing Research Data Management Good Practices * Increasing Data Access and Availability - Opportunities and Lessons Learnt from Sharing and Re-Using Data * Capacity Development for Agricultural Data.  We also encourage submissions to discuss possible new Working Groups for those interested in actively contributing with a panel session or a presentation. Please send email to aims [at] fao.org  with the title, speaker's short bio, and a brief abstract of your contribution before 1 May 2020. Contributions from people and organizations that have implemented IGAD/RDA recommendations in agricultural data projects and initiatives are preferred. Discussions can involve both policy and technical aspects.
 
The presentations and outcomes of the event will be published in the Open Knowledge in Agricultural Development (OKAD) channel on F1000Research. Seeking moderators. Please help support your IGAD community by volunteering to be a moderator for this virtual meeting. Interested members should email aims [at] fao.org to be part of the collaboration.     Considering the amazing new digital tech, GEO tech, etc. for agri-food production, ever-increasing populations and so need for more food, the new developments under threats by COVID time for food and many other related issues, now it is time to revolutionize the agri-food productions. I would also like to put forward the recent need for food in many developing countries due to the COVID-19 lockdowns.
