Hi Sara. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you on this. I honestly have not had a chance to fully review the new search engine upgrade until this week. Upon review, I have some concerns regarding usability and the instructional content on the page.
Regarding the instructional content, I’m not sure it’s even needed as a search engine is supposed to be fairly straightforward to the end user. Furthermore, some of the terms in the content may cause confusion to the end user (ex. Free search vs filtered search, use of the term “advanced search”, public content vs group pages, etc.).
The filtering functionality is confusing to me – it’s not consistent, the layout is not ideal, etc. I’m wondering if there is a way to simplify it a bit?
Perhaps you, Alex, Stefanie or Bridget would be willing to take a closer look and provide your thoughts?
The job alert and catalogue do look great btw!
Thank you, and apologies again for the delay in giving feedback.
Yolanda
