RDA-US Adoption Updates
After a Call for Adoption in November, RDA-US selected proposals from Dr. Mark Uhen at George Mason University and Dr. Peter Fox from Tetherless World Constellation (TWC). Dr. Uhen and his team will be adopting RDA’s Scalable Dynamic Data Citation Methodology within the Paleobiology Database, which is an open resource of paleontological data on all types of fossil organisms. Dr. Fox and his team will also be adopting this Recommendation in the Deep Carbon Observatory Data Portal to facilitate precise reference to data held at TWC and potentially elsewhere, while also sharing these links by implementing RDA’s Scholarly Link Exchange (Scholix) Recommendations. Updates on the projects and eventually results will be presented at upcoming plenaries and in various RDA communications.

RDA and OpenAIRE Research Impact Service
Initially announced at P10 in Montreal in September 2017, we have started an effort tracking publications, which come out of RDA Working and Interest groups, or at least refer/acknowledge RDA work. This is done via the generic OpenAIRE Research Impact Service and their algorithms, in cooperation with the RDA Europe project and the RDA Secretariat.
The main idea is to be able to do this automatically, provided that the papers include a standard acknowledgment text that is known to all RDA members. Doing this manually is also possible (especially for past papers), so all paper authors who would like to declare an “RDA paper” are welcome to contact the RDA Secretariat at email@example.com.
The acknowledgment text thgat has been agreed within the RDA Governance groups is the following: “This work was developed as part of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) ‘WG/IG’ entitled ‘long name (short name)’, and we acknowledge the support provided by the RDA community and structures”. This text is also available on the RDA website at https://www.rd-alliance.org/communication-kit. Please help us track RDA-related papers and get a better understanding of RDA WG/IG impact!

Spam Email Management Changes
Many RDA members have recently witnessed an increased amount of SPAM e-mail coming through their working and interest group distribution lists. Our technical partner managing website platform is working to find a resolution. In the interim, the Secretariat is trying to be as proactive as possible by manually removing the accounts generating the SPAM, note that these are users actively registering and subscribing to the group mailinglists for this purpose. Please be patient with us as we continue to troubleshoot the issue while keeping the platform open and accessible to all.
