Dear RDA community,
Last year at this time, we sent you a holiday greeting, expressing our gratitude for your support and wished you joy, peace and health for 2021. With hope, we anticipated this year to be much different than 2020, but as we all can attest to, it was another year filled with uncertainty and similar challenges. On the positive side, 2021 provided a sense of confirmation for many, including us, on the important things in life. We say this often, but important things often deserve repeating.
On behalf of all of the Secretariat and our governance bodies, thank you for your engagement, professionalism and friendship. Let us once again hope for a better year to come, where we can look forward to continued successes, prosperity and good health for all of us.
As we approach the end of December, please note some RDA updates that may be of interest to you.
Call for Sessions for Plenary 19 is now open
With great excitement, Plenary 19 will be our first hybrid event since the pandemic. Taking place 20-23 June 2022 during International Data Week in Seoul, South Korea, we are planning for a traditional, face-to-face plenary while providing virtual attendance options. The Call for Sessions is open until 26 February.
Virtual Plenary 18 - Final Report and Videos
- A final report on Virtual Plenary 18 is now available, capturing various takeaways from our November feeding. We encourage you to take some time to read and learn a bit more about the extent of the planning of the meeting and its outcomes as well as attendee feedback. View report.
- All videos from Virtual Plenary 18 are now available on YouTube. As promised, the videos were only available to registered attendees on the Whova platform until this week, but in the spirit of being open and transparent, the videos are all now available for the public and members who were not able to attend the meeting to listen to at their convenience. View video playlist.
Secretariat Closed for Holiday Season
Lastly, the RDA Secretariat will be closed from 22 December through 4 January so that our hardworking staff will have the opportunity to enjoy the holidays with friends and family. Expect a full update next month on our planned activities for 2022.
Again, on behalf of all of us in the Secretariat and our RDA governance bodies, Season’s Greetings and THANK YOU for helping us continue to build the social and technical bridges that enable data sharing and re-use.
