Dear Colleagues,
(1) Here is proposed language for Guideline 4A in response to Paul’s comment of July 7 “what standard expressions should be used? Did you have in mind something like http://rightsstatements.org/”
Models for established rights statements being applied to research materials include the RIOXX metadata profile developed for UK repositories to track compliance with funder open access mandates (http://rioxx.net/) and the RightsStatements.org taxonomy from the Digital Public Library of America and Europeana Digital Library that provides 12 standardized rights statements for online cultural heritage resources (http://rightsstatements.org/en/).
(2) Here are the full citations for the authorities on attribution mentioned in Guideline 6A.
Council of Science Editors, 2012, White Paper on Publication Ethics: CSE’s White Paper on Promoting Integrity in Scientific Journal Publications, 2012 Update, http://www.councilscienceeditors.org/resource-library/editorial-policies...
International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, Scientific Misconduct, Expressions of Concern, and Retraction”, http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/publishing-and-editorial-iss...
(3) Finally, I agree with Paul’s suggestion in Guideline 6A to mention the DPLA’s"best use practices" as an in-practice example of a citation policy that uses CC0 + normative rules. http://dp.la/info/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/DPLADataUseBestPractices.pdf.
Best,
Gail

Thanks for letting us know, Gail. Since we will be discussing two Guidelines that you were most involved in (Metadata and Attribution/Credit) it would be great if you could provide some written input about the remaining few margin comments and the draft edits in Guidelines 4-6, and the Principles. If you have no time or there's too much to cover, we can revisit that material next week.
Have a safe trip.

Hi all, we will not have a call this Friday, the 8th, but please keep the next 3 Fridays in July free at the usual time. I will send the revised redlined documents next week for our discussions and completion.
I have listened to the recording of last week's telcon, chaired by Bob Chen, and which had the participation of Willi, Christoph, and Bernard. That telcon completed the discussion of the response memo to the summary reviews that was sent out earlier. Those of you who could not participate in the call last Friday are welcome to provide comments on that document by next week.
Best wishes,
