Hello all,
We have scheduled a web conference for the RDA Research Data Provenance interest group for 21-May-2014 at 9:00 EDT/13:00 GMT.
Primary topics on the agenda include:
- review and furthering of progress on action items from the Dublin plenary (see https://rd-alliance.org/summary-p3-activity.html)
- discussion and planning for the RDA summer intern project to which 2 students have been assigned (see below for description)
Project Title: Research Data Provenance: Identifying Gaps and Overlap across RDA
Project Description:
Review deliverables from among the current set of RDA working groups and analyze and produce a report on the role data standardized approaches to provenance tracking plays in the problems and solutions presented by those groups, or the inverse, the impact the use cases and solutions of those groups should have on our understanding of provenance requirements. This effort supports the the goal of the Research Data Provenance Interest Group to serve in an advisory and information-providing capacity for other RDA groups with respect to data provenance issues. Working Groups targeted for this can be either technical or domain-oriented. The student will work together with the Research Data Provenance IG co-chairs to identify the appropriate RDA Working Groups. One expected output of the Research Data Provenance IG session at P3 is identification of likely Working Groups for this type of activity and this information will guide the selection process. The intern will gain experience with real-world use cases and solutions for data interoperability and sustainability across multiple disciplines.
We hope you can join us,
Bridget, Sayeed, Dave
