Re: [rda-repoplatforms-wg] Repository Platforms for Research Data

This is a really good point and I would also find it interesting. Even
though there are some comparisons available online, getting feedback
from people who are actually using them and have identified advantages &
issues in each case would be much more substantial.
Looking forward to seeing if there is further interest on this.
Warm regards,
Vassilis

    Hi all,
Through a Canadian group of data professionals, I've been involved in a review of over 30 major data repositories across a variety of disciplines, to assess the requirements for data submission, retention, preservation, and access to data for secondary use. The preliminary results are available here http://dataverse.scholarsportal.info/dvn/dv/rdcsinc .
Additional research and findings will be presented at the upcoming IASSIST conference (http://iassist2015.pop.umn.edu/) in June. And we hope to contribute to this RDA WG further, to extend the requirements and assess for interoperability between systems, especially as we evaluate solutions for a national infrastructure for data storage here in Canada.
This review did not include depositors feedback, but it does give a good overview of the approaches and gaps across repositories. This paper by Kratz and Strasser, 2014 (http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0117619) provides researchers perspectives on "data publication" and peer review of data, which has some implications for repositories. And, I've seen some others for specific data repositories.
I agree, this is an interesting topic and I'm looking forward to learning more about what others are up to,
    Best,
    Amber Leahey
