In anticipation of our session during the 17th RDA Plenary next week, that
will take place on Tuesday, April 20th at Breakout session 2

Subject: [datadiscovery] A survey on topics for new activities (and an
update)
Dear all,
As you are all aware, the aim of the RDA Data Discovery Paradigms IG
is to
explore common elements and shared issues that those who search for data,
and who build systems that enable data search, share.
As such, we are consistently identifying topics pertaining to data
discovery; based on the community interest, these topics are consequently
initiated either as Task Forces internal to DDPIG, or as independent WGs.
Successful examples include:
* Use Cases, Prototyping Tools and Test Collections (a completed TF)
* Best Practices for Making Data Findable (a completed TF)
* Relevancy Ranking (a completed TF)
* Research Metadata Schemas (an active WG
)
* Data Granularity (an new WG
)
We have put together a new survey in order to gather topics and interest
from the community, and to ensure alignment between the efforts of the DDPIG
and the particular needs and challenges. The survey is accessible here

complete. The survey will remain open until the start of the RDA Plenary,
and the results will be discussed during the DDPIG session

12:45 - 14:15 UTC, Tuesday April 20th, 2021).
Additionally and given its proximity to the Plenary event, the "RDA DDP IG
call: User studies in data discovery" call that was scheduled for April 20th
is cancelled - the next one will be on May 20th.
