Hi all,
Here are the notes from today's web conference. The primary focus was
planning for the joint session with the Reproducibility IG in San Diego
next week.
Attendees:
Bridget Almas
Andrew Treloar
MingFang Wu
Ajinkya Prabhune
P5 Agenda:
We tentatively agreed upon the following proposed schedule for the
session, pending feedback from the Reproducibility chairs to confirm
that this will work with their plans as well.
1) Scene Setting/Review of objectives and activities of each group [ 20
minutes ]
Prov IG chairs - 5 minutes presentation, 5 minutes Q&A
Reproducibility IG chairs - 5 minutes presentation, 5 minutes Q&A
2) Presentation of the target Reproducibility use case(s)
(Reproducibility IG chairs) [ 10 minutes ]
3) Presentation of motivations for recording provenance and specific
ANDS provenance related projects (Andrew Treloar) [ 10 minutes ]
4) Discussion of Reproducibility use case and application of provenance
ontologies, methodology to address it [ 30 minutes ]
5) Wrap-up, next steps [ 15 minutes ]
Other items:
Ajinkya discussed a use case of a project requiring capture of
provenance data for a multi-step workflow involving large data sets
(terrabytes). He is looking for feedback and recommendations on the data
model to use for capturing the provenance data. This use case is being
presented simultaneously to the provenance, metadata and data fabric
groups at RDA. Anjinka will post additional details on the Prov wiki on
the RDA site.

The use case will be "The benefits of reproducible research: a public
health example" by Tim Churches. You can find the narrative in markdown
and HTML expression in the code file connected with this research
compendium: http://labs.researchcompendia.org/compendia/2014.9/
When we meet on Monday I'll present some annotations to this document
using provenance vocabularies.

Dear All,
As discussed in our last telco, I have uploaded the Usecase: Provenance Information in Nanoscopy Research to our RDA Research Data Provenance Wiki.
If required I would gladly explain the usecase in details at the upcoming plenary.
See you soon.
