Organizing data folders with #5SDATA method
To improve researchers' work efficiency, it is good to have a clear data management strategy and data files well organized. In the #5SData campaign and Data Cleaning Week the data support team of the University of Helsinki gathered tips on how to organize files based on a lean 5S method. In this poster we introduce the 5SData method and the Data Cleaning Week campaign in the University of Helsinki. Campaign took place on December 2019 in all campuses and virtual networks of the University of Helsinki.
Research data management workflows could save researchers' time on daily basis. Good and efficient data management practises are important part of the whole life cycle. This poster gives some hints and ideas to other research institutions, data support organisations and other data practioners about methods to advise data end users like researchers. These issues and questions are important part of the RDA's agenda.
Poster fits very well to the theme of the 15th RDA plenaty "Data for Real-World Impact"; if reseachers have organised methods to handle data and data sets, there is bigger and faster possibilities to get impact with data.

This is such a great idea for raising awareness of RDM and I love the fact that you have shared a video too. Did you find the social media angle helped with engagement?

Thanks Sarah! We ran a similar campaign without the social media angle and got less than ten participants. We figured that unique hastag was pretty much the only way we could follow who has participated the challenge and also I think we got wider audience by using twitter. Of course getting few people involved by challenging other researchers was a key component. Not completely sure how many people actually participated, since not all used the twitter, but I'd say social media sure helped with the engagement. Would be nice to see someone else running similar campaign simultaneously using the same hashtag and see how that would go.
