Dear colleagues,
our original plans to hold a PaNSIG session at the RDA plenary in San Diego haven't worked out. Up to now, we had exactly two replies to the doodle posted earlier and the RDA participants list has only three registrants from the Photon and Neutron communities. In view of the presumed very sparse participation and conflicting sessions from related Interest Groups, we decided to postpone the PaNSIG session to the next plenary, which is supposed to take place in Paris in autumn later this year.
In parallel to the scheduled PaNSIG session, a joint session of the IG RDA/CODATA Materials Data, Infrastructure & Interoperability will take place. Brian Matthews has been in contact with the organizers, and PaNSIG is (inofficially) joining the Materials IG meeting. The joint Materials IG session is certainly an excellent alternative worth a visit.
Sincere apologies for the late cancellation!
Frank.
PS: we haven't followed up on a co-located HDF5 workshop proposed earlier. Unfortunately, HDFgroup finally had to opt out of a workshop in San Diego. Without _THE_ main player, it wouldn't have made sense to pursue the proposal any further. The HDF5 workshop will presumably take place sometimes later this year. Concrete locations, dates or occassions haven't been settled yet. We will post updates here, whenever we hear about any developments.

Just to add, as Frank mentioned, there is a joint session of the : IG Materials Data, Infrastructure & Interoperability, IG Photon, Neutron, IG Domain Repositories, IG Data Fabric, WG Data Type Registries, WG PID Information Types, & NDS MDS
which is confirmed for Monday, 9 March, 11:30-13:00.
Thanks
Brian
