Organisation Members clustering for your comments

01 Mar 2019
Groups audience:

Dear all,
Following Hilary's proposal on better understanding the types of organisations inside the Organisational Assembly we have prepared a table with different possible categories of organisations (we hope that the types are self-explanatory). You can find it attached to this message. Feel free to comment not only on your actual place in the clusters but also on the categories. I will include an item in the agenda for Thursday, a draft of which is already available at https://rd-alliance.org/group/rda-organisational-assembly/wiki/oab-march...
Best wishes,

    Hi Fotis,
This doesn’t answer your question directly, but when creating these categories, I propose aligning these options, and the options provided for “organization type” when creating one’s RDA. For example, Infrastructure does not exist as an option on the RDA user profile when categorising one’s organization. So - maybe these makers need to be reviewed together, with an eye to how RDA can best measure cross-sectoral reach and distribution?
    Best
    Natalie

    Hi Natalie,
In fact we started from the RDA user profile categories for organisations, but the outcome was not satisfactory. In particular, there were similar organisations opting for different categories. So, we decided to work further on the categories, proposing some new ones, like the (research) infrastructures or the publishers. In fact, Hilary, has come up with this updated set for your comments.
There is an agenda item on the Thursday OAB meeting where this can be discussed further and also off-line of course.
    Best wishes,
    Fotis
