Most of you will be aware that it has become our practice to divide the Organisational Assembly at our plenaries into two parts: a session open to all and a session limited to only those who have signed the membership agreement and singalled their intention to pay the Organisational Member Fee. The Open Session is designed to present the organisational perspective to the wider community and to encourage new organisations to explore the benefits of OA membership. The closed session which follows a break is designed to provide OA members with priviledged acces to RDA Leadership and detailed briefings on the life of RDA together with the opportunity to offer advice and to place organisational needs and imperatives before Council, TAB, and the Secretariat.
During the open session on Monday, March 9th at Plenary 5 in San Diego we want to have a panel of Organisational Members speak to Challenges in Data Sharing; How can they be addressed, what could RDA do to help organisations meet those challenges? How are organisations addressing the challenges?
We need three volunteers to speak on the panel. We will want this to be quite interactive, so from our panelists we really are only looking for a 5 minute opening presentation that will stimulate discussion.
If you are interested in being on the panel or wish to nominate someone for the panel, would you reply to this email with your name, organisation, and a very brief summary of the tact you would take. The chairs will select from among the volunteers to reflect the geographical, sector, and gender diversity of RDA.
Please reply by February 1st.
Walter Stewart, OAB Co-Chair
