Review Survey, Next meeting for the DDPIG Relevancy Ranking TF - Thursday 25th May, 7am EDT

18 May 2017
Groups audience:

Dear All,
In our previous meetings, we discussed to instrument a survey for
identifying current practices in relevancy ranking. Since the RDA P9,
SiriJodha (Khalsa), Peter (Controneo), and myself have been working on to
transform survey questions from this google doc

to SurveyMonkey.
We aim to use the survey to answer the following questions:
1) What are characteristics of each data catalogues?
2) Which search system has been deployed by data catalogues?
3) What is system configuration (e.g. ranking model, index methods, query
methods etc)?
4) Are there any data catalogue providers who have conducted any form of
evaluation? If yes, what evaluation methods have they applied and what is
their approximate benchmark?
5) What other technologies or methods have data catalogue providers used to
improve data findability?
We would like to invite you to review this draft survey
provide your feedback if we are asking the right questions or missing any
important questions from the survey. It would be great if two to three of
you can volunteer to have a dry run and let us know if the questions make
sense to you, if you interpret questions in some other ways and how long
it would take you to complete the survey, etc.. Please contact
SiriJodha/Peter/myself or just reply to this group email if you can
volunteer. Much appreciated!
We are compiling this potential contact list

to send out the survey. If you think any data catalogues we should include
but are not on the list, please fill them in under the "Other contacts"
The next meeting for this task force is on Thursday 25th May (see details
below). We hope you can join us and provide your feedback. In case you
aren't able to attend, please email your feedback to this group or us. We
plan to send out the survey in early June.
Peter, SiriJodha and Ming
(Please let us know as well if this time slot doesn't suit you but you
would like to attend future meetings, we can rotate meetings to suit
different time zones.)

Please review and comment on the survey directly from the google doc.
    Please following this link
to try out the online version. We need 2 to 3 volunteers for a dry run.
