
Caterina Caracciolo works to improve the interoperability of statistical data in the area of agriculture. Her work deals with semantic technologies including vocabularies, taxonomies and ontologies. For the past 15 years she has worked as an information specialist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN. Previously engaged with the development and maintenance of vocabularies for textual information (AGROVOC), she is now focussing on classifications for statistical data. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam and a Masters in Philosophy from the University of Pisa.
FOCUS
Open data standards for the management and publication of statistical classification, specifically RDF and appropriate machine-readable metadata schemas, and include them into one or more steps of the lifecycle of statistical data in agriculture.
