Group name: IG-VRE (Virtual Research Environment)
Meeting title: Kick-Off Meeting to establish IG
VREs are becoming of great interest in all regions where research data is being used actively. In Europe a model is emerging of VREs accessing one or more e-Research Infrastructures (such as EPOS, ENVRI+, EXCELERATE) which in turn utilise common e-Infrastructures such as GEANT, EUDAT, PRACE, EGI. The proposed IG (the case statement is being developed now) will address architectural principles, governance issues, technologies and best practice in the design and development of VREs. The proposed IG-VRE relates to just about all RDA groups since it will draw on their expertise, and will be based wherever possible on RDA output products and recommendations.
